Yea! my first real post of substance
With the exceptions of a few close friends and family, I really don't discuss politics anymore. The reason? Simple, it's the current " if you're not with us you're against us" mindset that both major political parties are engaged in. Neither party wants to comprimise anymore, or when a comprimise is being discussed it is, more often than not, double-speak for "we're doing it my way."
The sad thing is, this mindset has now filtered down to the party faithful. I have seen the words "conservative" and "liberal" used as the most vile of insults when describing someone. I have also seen shouting matches and fist fights break out over political differences. Both sides believe that the other side is either evil, stupid, or both, and both sides believe that they hold the moral high ground.
So who is right? Democrat or Republican? In my opinion the answer is, it depends on the issue. To me, neither party has a monoply on the truth, and followers of the ideologies that both parties represent are neither evil or stupid, just different, and the Anne Coulters, Bill O'reillys, Noam Chomskys and Micheal Moores of the world should just go away
