Well, ya know I really should update this thing since I have it. So much to write about since the last time I have updated this blog, ugh. Well to start out with, Crisy’s mother passed away this past November of lung cancer. She had gone to the hospital to treat what she believed to be a concussion, and found that she had lung cancer, which had spread to her brain and elsewhere. Then three weeks later she was gone. Just like that it was over. Crisy is still understandably upset, and will be grieving for some time to come. Within two years she lost her mother and grandmother, the family that raised her. She has no one left to ask questions about her childhood. She has no one left to ask for advice on Morgan. Although she is much better now than she was, she is definitely still grieving heavily. The worst part about it is that there is nothing I can really say or do to help her feel better. There is nothing I can say, or do it seems to help her feel better. The only thing that I can do...

Well, the past weekend was an eventful weekend. The family, including jasmine went down to my parent’s house in Charlotte NC for the fourth of July. We left Friday afternoon, and arrived stupidly early in the morning on Saturday. The traffic on the way south was absolutely horrific. I have never seen traffic that bad on the trip south. It was definitely holiday weekend traffic. Crisy and I hit the usual backups in Northern Virginia that lasted until Fredericksburg. Then we hit backups north of Richmond, south of Richmond, and again through Petersburg. We thought that once we hit 85 we would be in the clear, wrong. we hit 85 at about 9 or 10pm, and normally at that time of night, 85 is very much like a back country road. There are usually mostly trucks, and very few cars, on the road at that late hour. Not this time though, although there were no backups as such, the volume of traffic was intense and would travel in bunches at 70 miles per hour. I would have figured that most of t...

"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings.” -Lewis Carroll Well, took little Morgaine to the doctor today, and she was not happy about it. As soon as we walked from the waiting room into the back and she saw the scale, she was very unhappy. I guess she is at the age were doctors offices are big scary places that poke at her and stick her with needles. It turns out now on her growth chart that she is currently just above the 25% in height and weight. Which means that she is small for her age, which I guess is a good thing. Another thing I have observed about my daughter, is that she has inherited her mothers temper. While we were at the doctor’s office, she would not let the doctor do anything without a fight. I guess this confirms what I have always thought, never ever underestimate the power of a small Italian wom...

Well, it’s upgrade time again for the home machine. My new video card, EVGA 6800gt, should be here tomorrow. What had originally turned out to be just a video card swap out has turned into a major production. First I found that the reason my first 6800gt was not working was due to the fact that my 300-watt power supply was just not strong enough to handle the card, and in the process of installation I fried the card, wonderful. Luckily, the manufacturer of the card allowed me to send it to them for a replacement. In the meantime I have swapped out my power supply for a 480-watt power supply, which will definitely give me enough juice to run the card. The next issue I will have to deal with is heat. The new video card, and power supply will generate much more heat than I was dealing with previously. Currently I have two case fans, one intake and one exhaust, which do a pretty good job of moving air through the case, thus cooling CPU and motherboard. My plan for improving the ...
